Clare is a Registered General Nurse with 17 years’ clinical experience both in the civilian and military field. She has extensive experience of trauma nursing including posts within accident and emergency and intensive care units and has spent the past eleven years working as a Primary Healthcare (PHC) Nurse within a variety of settings. She also currently serves as a commissioned officer within the Army Reserve having deployed abroad on various operations, providing medical cover and more recently in the role of Officer in Charge of PHC.
She currently works for Jane James & Associates providing liability reports and full care, aids and equipment reports for use in litigation, and is instructed by both Claimant and Defendant Firms. Clare is an Accredited Expert Witness through the Bond Solon/Cardiff University Expert Witness accreditation programme.
Prior to her current clinical role Clare spent three years supervising a team of medical and paramedical staff providing primary care services to members of the armed forces on a busy military base. She currently continues to undertake primary care work as a GP Matron on behalf of 8 GP practices in West Norfolk. She has particular interest in the areas of tissue viability, infection control, diabetes, admission avoidance and chronic pain conditions. She has been the author of many local policies and protocols in these areas. Other areas of expertise include healthcare governance, continence, falls prevention, dementia, chronic disease management, triage and minor injury and illness.
She has extensive experience of assessing needs and care planning for clients with a variety of physical conditions within the NHS and armed forces including complex orthopaedic conditions, general medical and surgical conditions and CRPS. During her career she has also been an active member of various medical charities including Swift Medics the Wiltshire based voluntary trauma service and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
