Bio:

Lorna has been practising as an Occupational Therapist for over twelve years. She has a breadth of clinical expertise in a range of settings, including the private sector, the NHS and Social Services.

Lorna has spent several years working within litigation as a Case Manager, holding a caseload of complex adult and paediatric clients. Lorna has worked with clients who have suffered with brain, spinal cord and polytrauma injuries. She is experienced in undertaking Immediate Needs Assessments (INAs) and Cognitive Assessments under the Rehabilitation Code. She has a wealth of experience in managing a range of directly employed and agency care packages for her clients.

As an Occupational Therapist, Lorna is adept at assessing function and care needs. She has produced robust evidenced based reports, in relation to activities of daily living and mobility needs. She is experienced in the completion of standardised functional and cognitive assessments, mental capacity assessments and in providing advice regarding fatigue management.

During her time working as a Specialist Occupational Therapist / Case Manager for Social Services, Lorna gained valuable experience working with adults, children and families. She developed her skills in assessing for specialist equipment, major and minor adaptations, moving and handling, seating assessments, setting up of direct payment or agency care packages, locating supported living and enabling clients to develop independent living skills. Furthermore, Lorna has a good knowledge of Statutory Care Provision under the Care Act and a clear understanding of the Continuing Health Care (CHC) eligibility criteria.

Lorna is a trained therapeutic riding instructor and has a keen interest in hippotherapy and the benefits of equine and pet therapy. She brings a wealth of experience and transferable skills to her clinical practice.

Lorna works for Jane James & Associates as an independent Expert Witness, taking instructions from both Claimant and Defendant solicitors for Care Reports, and Occupational Therapy Reports.
