Trudie has over 20 years’ experience of working as a State Registered Occupational Therapist within both statutory services and the private sector. She has worked within community settings both for Social Services and the NHS and has specialised in the provision of adaptive equipment and housing for clients with severe disability. In the past 4 years, whilst maintaining part time NHS work, she has worked as a case manager and private OT working directly for insurers or on behalf of Claimants.
She compiles occupational therapy, aids and equipment reports for Jane James and Associates as well as Immediate Needs Assessments for clients with a range of disabilities. She has experience managing clients with acquired/traumatic brain injury, palliative care, spinal cord injury and multi and complex orthopaedic injuries and has worked with adults and children. She has particular skills and additional training in risk assessment in the provision of manual handling. Trudie also has a keen interest in vocational rehabilitation and getting individuals back in to work.
Trudie has worked at senior management level within the NHS and Social Services being responsible for the commissioning of care packages and provision of equipment to a range of clients in the community. She was responsible for the setting up of the Occupational Therapy Service at Glenside Manor, now a well renowned brain injury rehabilitation facility in Wiltshire. She is an experienced mentor and fieldwork educator for OT students and junior staff.
She is an active member and fund raiser of many local and national charities, personally undertaking extreme challenges as well as organising corporate fund raising events.
