Bio:
Karen is an experienced NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse with a breadth of clinical expertise working within the NHS and private healthcare. Her specialist areas include dementia care, mental health conditions, alcohol related brain injury, addiction, learning disabilities and complex trauma.
In addition, Karen has extensive experience in the care of people who have ASD and ADHD and a specialist interest in suicide prevention, self-harm, personality disorders, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy approaches.
Currently, Karen practices as an assessment practitioner for people with complex mental health challenges, where her role involves assessing the care and support needs of potential clients along with risk management. Karen also works as a distance learning tutor for an education provider, assessing and tutoring learners in the fields of mental health awareness, autism awareness, suicide and self-harm awareness and prevention, learning disabilities awareness and mental health first aid. Furthermore, Karen has worked in clinical governance and quality monitoring for over 15 years, developing an alcohol related brain injury service which was based upon rehabilitation, addiction interventions and social inclusion. She has also worked as a registered manager for a large dementia care home.
