Bio:
Petra is a highly skilled chartered physiotherapist with over 14 years’ clinical experience within both the NHS and the private sector. Over the past 12 years she has specialised in the treatment of children with neurological and physical disabilities working in specialist schools, hospitals and more recently a children’s hospice.
In 2015 Petra established her own private practice in the Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire areas, offering specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment to a variety of children with complex neurological conditions.
Petra is also a manual handling trainer and offers training to all the staff she works with on patient handling techniques and the correct use of equipment. She specialises in postural management ensuring the children she works with have the correct and most suitable equipment to support their posture and function during the day and at night.
Petra has undertaken specialist training in hydrotherapy for children with and without neuro disabilities and regularly runs sessions with the children on her caseload. She has extensive knowledge on the benefits of hydrotherapy and has seen first-hand how well this therapeutic intervention can benefit children with musculoskeletal issues, increased/decreased tone and sensory issues.
Petra actively participates in her own continuing professional development, attending courses and participating in peer group training and supervision.
She currently produces expert Neuro-physiotherapy reports for use in litigation for Jane James & Associates on behalf of both Claimant and Defendant firms as well as undertaking single joint expert work.
