Bio:
Alyssa is a highly skilled and experienced neuro rehabilitation occupational therapist, with extensive expertise in treating individuals with traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, and polytrauma injuries. Having worked internationally, Alyssa brings a global perspective to her practice. Her background includes a deep understanding of both the public and private healthcare systems in the UK, particularly within the neurorehabilitation field.
With over three years of experience working at The Cleveland Clinic London in their Neuro Rehabilitation Unit, Alyssa has gained invaluable insight into providing specialized care for individuals recovering from severe neurological injuries. In this role, Alyssa collaborated closely with a multidisciplinary team, delivering individualized therapy to patients with traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, and polytrauma injuries.
Her responsibilities included assessing patients' needs, developing targeted therapeutic interventions, report writing to insurance and medical legal companies, and supporting her patients in achieving their functional goals. Along with her patient responsibilities, Alyssa was a member of the Manual Handling Training team where she provided hospital-wide training on appropriate moving and handling techniques to ensure patient and staff safety. She received training and certification as a key trainer in People Handling and Risk Assessment in 2022 by Edge Services.
In addition to her role at The Cleveland Clinic, Alyssa brings extensive experience in the public health sector through the NHS. This background has given her a comprehensive understanding of the care journey, from inpatient acute care to inpatient rehabilitation and continued community care needs and support. She values the importance of providing tailored care that empowers individuals to achieve a high quality of life. Her NHS experience has further honed her ability to deliver patient-centred care while effectively navigating the challenges of a high-demand environment.
Alyssa works for Jane James & Associates as an independent Expert Witness taking instructions from both Claimants and Defendants for full care reports, aids and equipment reports, and immediate need reports.
