New admin staff aim to hit the ground running (and diving)
JANE James & Associates has welcomed two new part-time admin assistants to support the company’s busy team.
Mel Tierney and Alex Zimmerman will be supporting the expert witnesses within the quantum and liability teams at JJ&A. This entails helping with their diary and email management, liaising, and communicating with solicitors, proof-reading reports and generally supporting the running of the business.
Mel lives in Neston and has two grown-up children. Her career has mostly been involved with the marine industry, firstly working for a shipbroker, and then for a company that organised tug and salvage conferences and exhibitions. In more recent times, Mel has been providing a proof-reading and editing service in relation to policies for a medical company which provides healthcare for people in custody or prison.
She said: “My whole career has been admin-based and I am a very organised person. The medico-legal world really interests me and I’m really looking forward to getting involved and expanding my knowledge.”
In her spare time, Mel and her husband Mike, enjoy scuba diving together and are both Master Scuba Divers, each having logged more than 300 dives.
“It’s our complete passion, and we’ve dived in some beautiful places, including Thailand, Bali and the Maldives,” she said. “We have also dived at Vobster Quarry in Somerset, but that’s a bit colder!”
Alex lives with her partner Craig and their two young girls in a village just outside Stroud in Gloucestershire.
She previously had an admin role at a PR company and before that, she was in an operational and finance support role for a healthcare company in Tewkesbury.
“I like working in this kind of role because it is varied, and no two days are the same. At JJ&A, I really have to be on the ball with it all and keep on top of lots of areas.”
Her children keep her busy when she is not working, and she enjoys baking with them and keeping fit.
“I used to go to the gym a lot but now it’s home workouts and running,” she said.
Lucinda Lloyd, Head of Operations and Clinical Support, is delighted to have Mel and Alex joining the team. “Mel and Alex both bring valuable experience and expertise to the business and we are sure that they will make a difference in keeping it running smoothly and helping it grow,” she said. “We welcome them both and I’m sure all our regular clients will do too.”
